Animal welfare has become something of a trend. More and more consumers go beyond vegetarianism and adopt a vegan diet. Veganism as a comprehensive lifestyle includes paying attention not only to food ingredients, but to products in all parts of life.
Taking up this trend, Faber-Castell Cosmetics has created a new colour cosmetics line, “Vegan Beauty”. For the first time, the German colour cosmetics specialist launches a vegan product line on the international market. “Vegan cosmetics is no mass phenomenon, but clearly a growing market,” says Sabine Stadlbauer, Executive Director Cosmetics of Faber-Castell Cosmetics. The line currently consists of eyeliner and lipstick in various colours.
As Sabine Stadlbauer highlights, the company’s R&D department has developed a fully vegan formulation for “Vegan Beauty”, using, among other ingredients, high-quality leaf wax and mineral pigments. Both eyeliner and lipstick feature wooden casings. The wood has been treated with a special finish highlighting the grain. “The packaging design is a visual representation of the demands we have placed on the new line,” Ms. Stadlbauer explains.
